The Contra Costa Performing Arts Society (CCPAS) will hold its annual Voice Scholarship Competition on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
ELIGIBILITY:

Residents of Contra Costa or Alameda Counties

NOTE: Teachers of students in these 2 counties need not be CCPAS members

Students whose families are members of CCPAS

Students of teachers who are members of CCPAS
PRIZES:
$500 First Prize, $250 Second Prize, $100 Third Prize, $50 Fourth Prize
Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
COMPETITION RULES:

Vocalists must perform from memory. Total audition time is 12 minutes.

Voice students must perform three pieces, each in a different language, one of which is English and may be from musical theater repertoire.

An accompanist will be provided, though applicants may feel free to provide their own accompanists if desired. An original copy (not a photocopy) of all music performed must be provided for the judges, with the first measure of each line numbered.

All prizes are awarded at the discretion of the judges. The decisions of the judges are final.

Compositions performed at the winners’ concert will be selected by the judges.

Though first place winners from previous CCPAS Voice Scholarship Competitions will not be able to place again, they are invited to participate in the competition for comments from the judges.

In order to receive their awards, winners must perform in the winners’ concert, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 8:00 p.m., at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church.

A no more than 3 sentence Bio should accompany the application.
