Auditions
Those wishing to perform in a Tuesday evening or Friday morning formal concert for PAS must first perform
successfully in an audition. There are two auditions per season, in the fall (November) and spring (March). Audition
dates and times will be announced in the Newsletters. One need not be a PAS member to audition; however, after
a successful audition, membership is required before being considered to perform at these concerts.

Prepare two contrasting pieces selected from two of the four periods of music to be played in
an audition Ensemble. Every effort will be made to help performers put together their audition

the auditioned member may request that the group perform at a regular PAS concert and ask for a
quorum of the Audition Committee to attend the performance.

Performers passing the audition for either Ensemble or Chamber player may not perform as a soloist until they
have passed a Solo Instrumentalist audition.
However, an individual who has successfuly auditioned as a soloist may be considered for both solo and ensemble
performances. Requests for an ensemble performance at PAS must be made by an auditioned member.
Accompanists are not required to audition. Performers desiring to audition who do not have ready access to
an accompanist may refer to the list of accompanists in the PAS directory. The performer is not required to
select a PAS accompanist and may choose whoever is qualified.
In all cases, the Audition Committee is looking for skills in different styles and techniques.
A full set of guidelines governing the Audition process as well as maintaining concert performer status
may be obtained from the Audition Committee Chair.
