Dear Friends,
There are going to be two memorial concerts in memory of our founder Rosamond Davis.
The first will be our PAS concert which will be held on Mother’s Day, May 11, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace.
Some of Rosamond’s friends have suggested that it would be fitting to have dinner together at Rosamond’s
favorite Chinese Restaurant, Dragon 2000 in downtown Walnut Creek on Botelho and California. Reservations for a 6:00 p.m.
banquet have been made and if you would like to attend, you must send me a check for $15.95 (includes tax and tip) by May 4.
Send your check made out to Phyllis Ceaser to 22 San Jose Ct., Walnut Creek 94598.
The second concert will be sponsored by Grace Presbyterian Church and will be held on May 18, also at 4:00 p.m.
I hope that all of you will be able to attend at least one of these wonderful tributes.
JAZZ PIANO CONCERT: We will again perform at the Lafayette Community Center, May 16 at 1:30 p.m.
Please contact Mei Sun Li at 284-5050 for a headcount for treats if you plan to attend. Our final concert for the year
is at Sherman Clay Pianos in Walnut Creek, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. Please join us, as this promises to be a spectacular
finger-snapping event! Seating is limited, so please RSVP to
Justin Levitt for further information.
MEMBERS-ONLY BENEFIT:
PAS members can now receive a 20% online discount on the current production of “Figaro” at Berkeley Rep.
Enter a special promo code when prompted at www.berkeleyrep.or which, if you are a member, you can obtain from
Debbie Murray.
MEMBERS-ONLY PRE-CONCERT LECTURE:
By popular demand, guest lecturer Adriana Ratsch-Rivera will present another pre-concert lecture on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:15 p.m.
Please join us and find out some interesting facts about the composers and their works. Last month Ms. Ratsch-Rivera gave
lectures for Chora Nova and for Cal State East Bay. Her reputation for cunning insight into the motivation and lives of
composers is well-known. This guest lecture is a benefit for members, and guests must register in advance with
Debbie Murray.
FRIDAY MORNING CONCERTS: Did you know that coffee and homemade goodies are served in the library at 10:00 a.m.
before each of our Friday morning concerts? Suzanne Christensen and Shirley Campbell are the hostesses, so stop in
and say “hi” and enjoy coffee and a cookie.
COMPOSERS’ WORKSHOP:
This group is being reconstituted. Please contact Debbie Murray
if you are interested in further information.
JOB OPENING:
Karen Snow will be unable to continue in the position of Telephone Chair next year.
Karen has done a fabulous job of organizing the phone committee, and the result has been a sizeable
increase in concert attendance. We need someone to carry on her good work. If you would like to know
what this job will entail next year, please call Karen at (925) 736-7894.
PUBLICITY: Diana Chave our Publicity Chair would like to have names and addresses of your music loving friends who do not
belong to PAS. She plans to send them postcards reminding them of our concerts. Through this process we hope to increase
audiences and also acquire new members. Please e-mail her lots of names or telephone (510) 787-3460.
