Dear Friends,
This is my last Newsletter. My two year term as PAS president ends in June.
It has been an honor to be your president. Of course, I will continue to be involved
but will also have more time to pursue other interests and visit my grandchildren who
will be spending a year in Mexico. You can be sure that your organization is in good
hands with a fine board and President Chris Erwin. I know you will support Chris and
the board in achieving our mission of fostering an appreciation of the performing arts
and providing opportunities for community artists to share their musical talents with
all of you. But in the meantime, don’t forget that we still have three concerts in
June - jazz, vocal competition winners, and our Recital Pianists’ group. Details can
be found on our Calendar. I hope that all of you will have a wonderful summer.
PAS
MUSIC TEACHERS WHO PLAN TO PRESENT THEIR STUDENT RECITALS AT GRACE PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH:
1) Fee for use
of church: $150 for up to a three-hour period; $50 for each additional hour or
part of an hour, payable by check at least one week before the day of the
recital directly to the church.
2) Fee for use
of PAS pianos: $100 per recital. This amount will be paid by check to PAS
at least one week before the day of the recital and will go into the piano fund
for care and maintenance of the pianos.
3) Teachers who
wish a recital date between September, 2009 and December 31, 2009 must contact
the PAS Teachers’ Section Coordinator (presently Gail Burnett), NOT the church,
by August 17, 2009 to submit their choice for a date. A second choice is a good
idea.
4) Teachers who
wish a recital date between January 1, 2010 and March 31, 2010 must contact the
Teacher’s Section Coordinator, NOT the church, by December 21, 2009 to submit
their choice(s) for date(s).
5) For recital
dates between April 1, 2010 and July 1, 2010, contact the Coordinator by March
15, 2010. NOTE: CALLING WELL AHEAD OF FINAL DEADLINE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The
Coordinator will present the dates to the church. The church trustees meet
monthly to set schedules. When they have approved the dates, they
will call the coordinator, who will then contact each music teacher with either
an approval or a request for a different date. PAS teachers wishing to use
other venues for their student recitals may contact those venues directly.

PAS SOME MONEY:
About one third of our members still receive their Newsletters by U.S. mail. If
you fall into this category, have an email address, and are willing to receive
the Newsletter by email, please contact Jeanette Peavler. You can always print it from your email
if you like to have a hard copy.
